The character and appearance
The building is designed to be a central landmark for the Skanste Business District. The volume of the building is highlighted with a white „frame“ around the tower blocks, which creates the distinct character from the distant views, as well as elegant verticality from the closer viewpoints. The building volume itself, which is optimal and economical for a well-working office building, is designed to be architecturally elegant and clean. The horizontal volume between the tower blocks (with it’s special facade – Schüco Parametric Facade System) will act as a focal point on the public link – it covers and emphasizes the main entrances of the building. The basement part of the building is pushed into the ground and it forms an open podium for the building above.
Functionality
The spatial program of the building is organized in the way that it creates two separate office towers and a horizontal volume with public functions between them. Both towers have a central core with staircases and elevators, which provide the access to the offices and also to the public areas on the 2nd floor. The building has two main facades, since in the near future people will approach the building equally from the Skanstes Street as well as from the plots on the other side – where there will be offices, apartment blocks and parking.
Access and landscaping
The 1st floor open area, on top of the basement part of the building, is functionally divided between the parking area and public area. The public area is part of the public link between the Skanstes street and offices, apartment blocks and parking house behind the Skanstes Business Centre. The access to the building from the both, equally important side, is designed by blending the podium into the existing landscape. Along the public link the access on both sides of the building has stairs and ramps combined.
